Thank You for Making Our Food Drive a Success

AAA members helped make the AAA Northeast summer food drive a resounding success. We collected more than 8,000 items and monetary donations for community organizations in six states after the two-week event, held July 22-Aug. 2.

Members delivered donations to their local AAA branches in impressive fashion.

In East Meadow, N.Y., two members alone donated more than 100 cans of vegetables, many still wrapped in their cases, prompting Manager Amy Rose-Huston to respond: “Our members are the best!”

Two members were spotted by staff at AAA Hamden, Conn., as they attempted to drop off more than 40 items unnoticed. “They were very inspiring with their kindness, and the generosity of our members and our co-workers was infectious,” said Manager Laura Schirillo.

AAA Pittsford, Mass., received a carload of items from residents of Lakecrest Condominiums. One member brought in two full shopping bags of goods to AAA East Providence, R.I. And, at AAA Salem, N.H., a $1,000 donation from AMVETS Post 2 went directly to the Food for the Hungry Food Pantry at Pleasant Street United Methodist Church.
