Members Help AAA Collect Over 3,000 Items in Warm-Clothing Drive

Members filled collection boxes at AAA branches with more than 2,500 coats, sweaters, scarves, mittens, socks, shoes and other cold-weather gear to be donated to those in need within their local communities. In addition, AAA Northeast employees filled more than 30 boxes with about 600 donations.

Members who visited the AAA Whitestone, N.Y., branch were especially generous.

Marsha Kolomick, manager of branch sales and service in Whitestone, said many of the 189 items collected were from a member whose knitting and crocheting group took on the cause. And, there was a tremendous response from the surrounding community.

“We put signs in the neighboring businesses. The pizza place next door does a lot of business. So does the bakery nearby. It seemed like the community got involved whenever they saw the signs,” Marsha said.

The branch had a few charitable initiatives happening at the same time, including adopt-a-family and toy drives, and all of them did well.

“We would like to thank everyone for coming together and making this warm-clothing drive a huge success! Your efforts in this drive are directly helping the communities where your branches provide services,” said Rick Del Nero, vice president of branch operations for AAA Northeast.
