After the resounding success of last yearās summer food drive, AAA Northeast employees knew they would do it again this year. They had not anticipated how much more meaningful the collection would be. An unfortunate side effect of the COVID-19 pandemic is overwhelming food insecurity among those in our communities.
Starting Monday, July 6, every open branch across the AAA Northeast footprint will have a collection box ready for donations. Some AAA branches remain closed due to the pandemic. Those that are open and are operating under the guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Visitors are required to wear masks and practice proper social distancing. For guidance, click here. The food drive will run through Monday, July 27.
āWe are even more revved up than last year, given the circumstances around us,ā said Rick Del Nero, vice president of branch operations for AAA Northeast. āLast year, we collected more than 7,000 items that we donated directly to organizations in our communities. We want to do even better this year.ā
